Volume II
From 310 to Thriving
One Man's No-Nonsense Guide to Taking Back His Health, His Body, and His Life
The rebuild. Living through - and after - massive weight loss.
Volume II is the rebuild log. Five feet five inches tall, 310 pounds, a fifty-inch waist, and a photograph on a boat deck that finally told the truth. From there: 165 pounds lost, four serious medical conditions reversed, and a training habit that starts before most people are awake.
It covers the part almost nobody writes about honestly - what it is to live inside a body changing faster than your identity can keep up with. Appetite signalling changes. Energy availability changes. Relationships, clothing, self-image, and the way rooms respond to you all change. Each is treated as a real engineering problem with real load, not a footnote to the number on the scale.
The through-line is stability. A machine that loses 100+ pounds with no new operating procedure will drift back to its old settings. This volume is about building the procedures that make thriving the default state rather than a temporary condition.
There is a photograph of me from a boat deck, taken on October 24, 2015, somewhere around my fifty-third birthday. I am wearing a blue hoodie. I am smiling at the camera, completely at ease, because in that moment, I had no idea anything was wrong. I looked, and I mean this literally, like a big blue ball.
I am five feet five inches tall. In that photograph, at five-five, I weighed 310 pounds. My waist was fifty inches around. Do the math. My body was sixty-five inches tall and fifty inches around. That is not a man. That is a sphere.
The first lie you tell yourself is that you can see yourself clearly. You can't. Not when you're inside it. That is the whole problem in one sentence, and it is the reason this book exists.
